This painting is a portrayal of the Taino Goddess Atabey, known for her dominion over fertility and freshwater, greatly important to Caribbean indigenous tribes. It symbolizes her role in sustaining life and connects her to humanity and nature. With this piece, I hope to bring attention to finding a deeper appreciation for Caribbean traditions as well as a visual exploration of my Puerto Rican heritage.
